IUI

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a highly advanced technology in which a woman receives daily hormone medications to stimulate the growth of multiple eggs, rather than the typical single egg that would naturally develop without medication. Once the eggs have reached the right stage, intrauterine inseminations are done using specially treated sperm from the partner.

IVF

In vitro fertilization commonly known as (IVF), a type of assistive reproductive technology (ART), is used to help in fertility when other medical and surgical interventions failed to respond. During IVF, mature eggs from the woman’s ovaries are collected and fertilized by a man’s sperm in an incubator outside the woman’s body. The fertilized egg (embryo) is transferred back to the woman’s uterus. The entire cycle of IVF generally takes about three weeks.

ICSI

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a specialised form of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) that is used for the treatment of severe cases of male-factor infertility. ICSI involves the injection of a single sperm directly into a mature egg. At Yana, we use a medium named PVP (Polyvinylpyrrolidone ) for sperm selection. This medium slows down the sperm motility, and thus allows the selection of sperms with normal morphology, and thus using them for ICSI, the embryologists preferentially use the better-quality, more mature sperm.

IMSI

Intra Cytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI) is a variation of ICSI that uses a higher-powered microscope to select sperm. This allows embryologists to look at the sperm in greater detail (including the nucleus which contains the sperm’s genetic material). The shape of the sperm (morphology) is important in diagnosing male fertility problems and in predicting fertilization and pregnancy outcomes.

PESA

Percutaneous Epididymis Sperm Aspiration (PESA) is name of the technique used to determine the sperm count in a male. In this procedure the sperms are collected directly from the epididymis, the part of the testicle where these sperms are stored.

Frozen Embryo Transfer

The frozen embryo transfer (FET) process involves taking embryos which have been cryopreserved (frozen) previously and placing them into the uterus.
